Greensburg Salem vs. Franklin Regional Hoops – 12.8.19

It’s been a bit since I’ve taken photos at a hoops game – quite honestly, our gym is so dark and yellow, that it’s beyond difficult (and the respect I have for those who get great shots in our gym is immense). But with our guys playing close by at Hempfield, I decided to have a go at it. GS weathered the early storm, so to speak, and came back for a HUGE win. These are some of my faves from an exciting day…

I talk to my Yearbook students all the time about capturing the emotions, rather than simply going through the motions. Seeing these guys after taking the lead embodies that idea…

A Rain Soaked Night at Offutt Field…

To say that it was a wet one at Offutt Field last night as the Golden Lions took on the Colonials of Albert Gallatin would be quite the understatement! It was great to see the students finding a way to enjoy themselves while making the best of the conditions (just take a look at the smiles on the faces of those in the Majorettes, Colorguard and Dance Team) – and it was even better to see the Golden Lions pull out the big W.

The Rivalry Returns – Greensburg Salem vs. Hempfield is back!

It’s been four years since Greensburg Salem and Hempfield have squared off on the gridiron, and that’s been four years too long, in my opinion. It was great to see the communities – communities that are so close together – coming together once again. Here are some of my favorites from the game…

I’m not sure that anything could be more appropriate for this young man than a sledgehammer – he’s one of the hardest working athletes I’ve ever come across. But it’s more than just that with him – having had the chance to work with him in the classroom, I can assure you that he is one of the most genuinely nice human beings I’ve ever been around.

This is always one of my favorite images to capture – there’s so much honor to be chosen as a captain, and these four represent Greensburg Salem extremely well…

If there’s a better spot for a High School game, I’d love to see it…

Jump Start Sports Pittsburgh – Monroeville Community Park

Sometimes you just need to have your faith in great things restored, and last night just that thing happened for me as I had the opportunity to take some shots at Jump Start Sports Pittsburgh’s Soccer Program at Monroeville Community Park. What a blast! To see the smiles, to hear the laughs, and to see the kids picking up on the basics of this sport was just a flat out awesome experience. On top of that, I can assure you that you haven’t seen total joy until you’ve seen a four year old receive a medal for her efforts. Below are some of my favorites from this tremendous experience.

Brittany’s Senior Project…

A former student of mine, who just so happens to also be my neighbor, asked if I’d be willing to take pics of her Senior Project — a dance competition that she organized and was overseeing. Admittedly, I was a little hesitant. I can’t say as dance is something that typically catches my attention, so I just wasn’t sure. A little reluctantly, I agreed, and I am so happy that I did – I was thoroughly impressed all around – from her overseeing of the event to the talent that performed – it was a really, really great thing to see!
